Royal Challengers Bangalore for a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling finish

Sunrisers won the toss and chose to bat but it was the rain that took the guard at the ground soon. The persistent rains delayed the start by 160 minutes much to the frustration of a capacity 28,839 that thronged the stadium to witness the fireworks. State Chief Minister K Chandra Shekhar Rao was at the inauguration time and he was supposed to greet the players from both teams. But with rain halting the play, he waited in the CM box at the stadium.

Virat Kohli powered Royal Challengers Bangalore for a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling finish. In a rain-curtailed match, RCB were required to score 81 from six overs after Sunrisers scored a competitive 135 for three.

Moises Henriques smashed a 22-ball 57-run blitzkrieg while skipper David Warner led from the front with yet another unbeaten half-century (52 runs in 32 balls) as Sunrisers Hyderabad amassed a massive 135 runs for three wickets in a truncated match that was reduced for 11 overs a side in a crucial IPL match, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Friday.

Narine pass hogaya in bowling action!

In a big boost to the defending champions, the BCCI on Thursday cleared spinner Sunil Narine?s bowling action after undergoing a successful correction of his bowling action. The 26-year-old was, however, warned by the board of cricket to be cautious and not deviate from his re-modelled action. The right-arm spinner was banned from bowling off-spinners in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) for a suspected illegal action.

Narine was reported by the match officials for a suspected illegal bowling action for certain deliveries during an IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam on April 22.

He then subsequently appeared for a biomechanical analysis of his bowling action at the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Sciences Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai. Kolkata Knight Riders had threatened to pull out of the 2015 IPL if Narine was not allowed to play in the current edition of the eye-grabbing tournament.

India start title defence with 76-run victory against Pakistan to record sixth win against arch-rivals

India once again came out on top in the high-octane clash to defeat Pakistan in their World Cup opener at the picturesque Adelaide Oval.

A special century by vice-captain Kohli (107) guided India to 300/7 which Pakistan failed to chase down, being bowled out for 224 in 47 overs. world cup 2015 Indian team

world cup 2015 Indian team

The Indian selectors, under the leadership of Sandeep Patil, have chosen a young side to defend the World Cup in testing conditions of Australia and New Zealand where the tournament will be played from next month. The team, under the reins of Mahendra Singh, decided to leave out the vital cog of the 2011 World Cup triumphant team Yuvraj Singh, whose name cropped up ahead of the selection meeting. Despite a gradual decline in his performance post- 2011, Yuvraj made his case strong days ahead of the selection with three back-to-back tons in the ongoing Ranji season. But that seemed to have little effect on the board officials.

carlsen retains world chess title

carlsen retains world chess title

sochi : World chess champion, Norway's Magnus Carlsen retained his title, defeating Indian challenger Viswanathan Anand in the 11th round of their title match at Russia on Sunday. The reigning world champion called off the exchange/sacrifice blunder or bluff of Anand on move 24 and wrapped up the 12 game in 45 moves. Interestingly Anand went for the misadventure of exchange/sacrifice - giving up his rook for Carlsen's bishop when he was enjoying a slight positional advantage.

CarlsenCarlsen scored 6.5 points first to retain the title that he wrested from Anand last year. As predicted earlier Anand played it safe in the initial phase of the game as he was trailing a point behind Carlsen. Playing white, Carlsen opened by pushing his king pawn two squares forward. The game soon transposed into Ruy Lopez-Berlin defence. And as it happened in the earlier games, Carlsen went in for exchange of queens. On move 9, Anand moved his white bishop to d7 square which was considered as a fighting move. Both the players blitzed their moves consuming around five minutes for the first 12 moves. "Again Berlin defence-third time by Anand.

It is unclear whether they played the prepared moves. Seems Carlsen did not expect Berlin defence," World number 26 and Indian Grandmaster P.Harikrishna told IANS. At the end of 13th move, Carlsen's minor pieces were ready to come into play but the same could not be said so for Anand as his rooks and black bishop were rooted to their original squares. "The Berlin defence is like that. Initially black pieces would seem to be inactive but they play an active role in a passive manner," Harikrishna said. Two moves later, Anand opened up his king side by pushing his g file pawn two squares. Carlsen had castled on the king side.
